December arrived and came along with the wintry season. While passing off, the first week of the last month left vivid pictures of a vibrant Prasanthi that had enough of actions in its kitty. Topping the list comes the visit of India’s Industrial tycoon Ratan Tata.
In appreciation, the distinguished guest wrote in the guest book after completing his visit at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram, “One of the most impressive and unique hospital facilities I have ever seen. It performs patient care and treatment as it should be, and in a form that unfortunately is not, by and large, practised today”.
Yes, the week that passed by had a hectic twenty-four hour schedule for India’s topmost industrialist, Ratan Tata, in Prasanthi Nilayam. The man who rose like a phoenix to become India’s ‘topbill’ in international business forums, Ratan Tata, left the holy township richer with greater insight into humanitarian services as exemplified by Sathya Sai Baba’s Mission.

Accompanied by his colleague and close confidant Mr. R.K. Krishna Kumar, Vice Chairman, India Group of Hotels and a member in the Board of Directors for Tata Sons, Mr. Ratan Tata also visited the University Administrative Block and the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus wherein the distinguished guest was briefed in detail about Bhagawan’s Vision on Educare, His Revolutionary Educational Mission and the Holy Educational set up brought about by Bhagawan.

In a brief address to the officials and faculty members of the University, Mr. Tata expressed his thanks for the hospitality, lavishing at the holistic institution run by Bhagawan that serves as a role model.

And after watching the Water Project Video presentation, he said: “I would have loved to be part of the water project. This is a project where all the benefit has reached where it is actually needed – the poor man! I wish I was there to see Swami plan and execute the whole project!”

A drama entitled, Premaarpitham, portraying the plight of the present day confused youth, confused at choosing the right path between staying abroad aiming at greater career growth and staying back to serving the nation, was staged by the University students on the 3rd evening at the University Auditorium. The drama that was blessed by Bhagawan’s gracious presence was also attended by Mr. Ratan Tata, Mr. Krishna Kumar, Dr. Vijay Kelkar, Chairman of the Finance Commission of India and the ashram officials along with students and faculties from the University. Bringing home the message that Educare is in essence Love of God and the Love for God the forty-five minutes drama had flashback scenes from the lives of Swami Vivekananda, Adi Shankaracharya, the Pandavas and Gopikas of Vrindavan.

Excellence in performance meeting the benchmark set by Bhagawan, the crew was rewarded well with a forty minute onstage session with Bhagawan in presence of the Chief Guest. From the drama to real life, many of the aspiring students writing the final year exams got to clear their doubts about career path, capitalizing the best of the occasion.

Bhagawan Himself was seen introducing many of the boys detailing their courses undertaken. In between, Bhagwan called out Issac Tigrett of Hard Rock fame asking him, “how many hotels?” “In reply he said, “Swami more than 148 Hard Rock Cafes; but all that is nothing in front of my Master! Master is everything.” Continuing with this conversation, referring to the present day plight of youth and parents, Bhagawan said emphatically, “Everything is polluted. My students will go everywhere and clean up everything. That is their service to me”

Bhagwan called out Issac Tigrett of Hard Rock fame asking him, “how many hotels?” "In reply he said, “Swami more than 148 Hard Rock Cafes; but all that is nothing in front of my Master! Master is everything."
Speaking about singing, Bhagawan said that the harmony of feelings, rhythm and melody are most important. “Bhava, Raaga and Tala – these constitute Bharatha. Bhava or feeling is most important. The boys here have lot of feelings. They go to the villages and serve the poor people there.” Acknowledging this Tata replied, “I have seen the glow in the eyes and faces; they have a lot of devotion for You”. Swami said, “If everyone had such devotion, the world would immediately improve.” Bhagawan specially introduced Warden of the Hostel followed by the lead singer. Referring to the lead singer who had studied in Prasanthi Nilayam from the Primary level, Bhagawan remarked that he had been working there for sixteen years and his final remark before leaving was on Mr. Ratan Tata. …And before leaving Bhagawan had a mention about the good man in Tata, who serves the society most selflessly.
Mr. Tata and Krishna Kumar were blessed with a fifteen minute open session in the bhajan hall on the 3rd evening.

Upon returning from the University Auditorium, Mr. Tata and Krishna Kumar were blessed with a fifteen minute open session in the bhajan hall on the 3rd evening. The next morning after his visit to the Indoor Stadium and Chaitanya Jyothi Museum, Mr. Tata was granted an audience with Bhagawan that lasted for forty minutes which was followed by a brief audience to Mr. Krishna Kumar.

Before leaving for Hyderabad after one day stay in the Ashram the guest of honour also paid visit to the Indoor Stadium and Chaitanya Jyothi Museum.

With the passing off 84th Year of Advent, the countdown for the landmark occasion, 85th Birthday is virtually begun. …And in anticipation of the mammoth occasion, new dormitories are being constructed replacing existing ten numbers starting with shed nos. 11 and 12. The new provision would be having triple storeyed new dormitories are being constructed replacing existing ten numbers starting with shed nos. 11 and 12. The new provision would be having triple storeyed...
dormitories with twin units. Each single unit would be having a capacity of 504 aggregating to 5040 against the current capacity of 120 per shed. All sheds would be provided with bunk coats facilitating increased number of capacity per shed. Open shelves for keeping the belonging, liberal provision for bathroom facility etc. are some of the additional features of the new construction. Built up area for the entire construction would be 200000 sq. ft. and the project that is entrusted to L & T is expected to be commissioned by Guru Purnima 2010.

Bhumi Puja for the above construction was held on the 2nd Dec attended by senior officials from Ashram along with students and staff working in ashram institutions.

Two more Parthi Yatras, from West Bengal and Punjab, marked the end of the week with two programmes by the respective states. West Bengal that came with a force of over 550 staged a drama “Transformation – Individual to Global” that talked about the influence wielded by Sai Youth in the society in general bringing in transformation beginning at the individual level. “Vande Sai Mataram”, a colourful dance drama by Punjab Youth and Balvikas, came with a force of over 450, was a depiction of the state’s rich cultural heritage and patriotic feeling.

Come December and Prasanthi gets the taste of winter. Wintry weather hit Prasanthi as December gets going to the second week. But, the chilly climate no way stops the students from gearing up for the annual sports and cultural meet. The preparations virtually began this week with trial and practice sessions got to start braving the wintry weather.

Apart from the Tata Team and Dr. Vijay Kelkar, another dignitary who was present during the week was veteran VHP leader, Ashok Singhal who was here for two days.

Seeing off Police personnel upon completing their duty

December gripped by wintry climate, progresses slowly reminiscing the year that is fading off. And the bell rings with the countdown for Year 2010.

The Return of The Lord

Welcoming the Lord back to Prasanthi is never an ordinary occasion, rather is a momentous occasion to reconnet, for Prasanthi or Puttaparthi can never bear the pangs of separation from her Beloved. This is the history of her very existence and the existence is the Divine Being Himself, but for whose presence the spiritual township goes barren.

This time the gap was just less than a week, precisely six days, and Prasanthi was ever jubilant with floating devotees making life active. Watching over the activities at Pune and Mumbai, Prasanthi has been updating the events of her Beloved and eagerly awaiting the day, 2nd November to dawn faster.

Roads were yet again spruced up to welcome the Lord, with banners and flower decorations heralding the Advent of the Divine. Linking to Mumbai news updates were pouring in hinting at the exact hour of Divine arrival. Entire Airport vicinity was spruced up to welcome the Divine and escort vehicles were set in position well in advance.

Behind the panoramic blue skies with golden sun dotting prominently as if awaiting to receive The Lord, while waning to dusk, the scene was perfect for the Majestic Lords Air Chariot to touch down. And dotting in the sky,

precisely couple of minutes after the clock ticked five, the tiny birdlike air-chariot, Jet Airliner Boeing 737-700 grew larger in proportion, finally touching down the tarmac of the Sri Sathya Sai Airport at 5:04 p.m. after a more than an hour air sojourn from Mumbai to Puttaparthi.

Bhagawan was received by the Secretary of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Sri K. Chakravarthi along with other officials including Airport Director, Capt. Sharma joined by hundreds of eagerly expectant devotees waiting

outside for a glimpse of the Lord. And the special guest showed up at the Airport to receive the Master was the little Sathya Geeta, Bhagawans pet elephant who was at her best exuberance playing pranks. Arathi was offered to Bhagawan before He proceeded to Ashram. The entire aircrew was blessed by Bhagawan before leaving the airport precincts.

Enroute to Prasanthi, covering the three kilometer road stretch, it was celebration all over, with hundreds lined up at vantage points to have a glimpse of The Lord on His return journey. There were many a folded hand, there were flower showers with colourful petals strewn at the Divine Chariot, there were arathi offerings, there were coconut breakings and there were another hundreds silently glancing at Him,

all in merriment of His return. . The journey took almost half an hour with Bhagawan reaching the precincts of Prasanthi Nilayam just after 5:30 for a traditional welcome led by Veda chanting and flag bearing university and school students. Heaps of flowers strewn on the windshield was reminiscent of the merriment

of the occasion and behind the beauty of these flowers was hiding the beautiful charming Lord of Puttaparthi.

Bhajans were going on and welcoming the Lord they sangSwagatam, Swagatam Sri Sathya Sai Swagatham!

Upon arriving, the compassionate Lord came for a full round in the car through the gents side. For a brief three bhajan sessions The Lord appeared on the dais before calling for Arathi.

Earlier, back in Mumbai, after an extremely long and busy Sunday, the proceedings on the 2nd of November morning was restricted to the Dharmakshetra premises. The old students of Bhagawan from Mumbai had made a short video documentary depicting the evolution of Dharmakshetra. Bhagawan watched the film in Sathya Deep and blessed all the old students and posed for photographs. These grateful students had a prayer to Bhagawan to visit Mumbai frequently.

This was followed by a visit to Shanti Deep, the Bhajan Hall, where Bhagawan blessed many an active workers who were involved in the backstage preparation connected to Bhagawans visit. This was followed by a short Bhajan session at Jalan Mandap after which Bhagawan accepted Aarathi and retired to Sathya Deep.

…And the the schedule hour arrived Dharmakshetra was preparing herself for the pangs of separation that she had endured many a time over the past. Recollecting the parting moments, we have a narration by an active volunteer, Aazmeen Kasad, an Advocate at Mumbai High Court and a Professor of Law, who had been reporting the events from Mumbai during the visit.

“At close to about 2 pm, Dharmakshetra witnessed a frenzy of activity and movement, after a brief pause for lunch prasadam which was partaken by one and all who had gathered for the morning darshan in Satyadeep, Shantideep and the Jalan Mandap. Bhagawan had disappointed no one. This despite the fact that His past two days schedule had been a physically hectic and demanding one, it seemed as if He was willing to fulfil the requests of each and every devotee and make up for the drought of His Divine Darshan that Mumbai had experienced over the past nine years.

As the luggage of His guests and students was seen being loaded in the tempos that were there at Dharmakshetra, the message seemed to sink in, that after a glorious 48 hours of bliss and incessant activity, Dharmakshetra would be shortly bidding her Master farewell.

As the guests and the students cars started slowly leaving the gates of Dharmakshetra, onwards to the Mumbai airport, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra arrived to personally escort Bhagawan to the airport.

The devotees hearts were already saddened by the awareness that Bhagawan would shortly be leaving their city to head back to the abode of Eternal Peace. They lined up on both sides of the pathway to get their one last Darshan in Mumbai.

Soon at about 2.45pm, Bhagawans car left the gates of Satyadeep, down the long, slope of Dharmakshetra, followed by His convoy of over 15 cars heading to Chatrapathi Shivaji International Airport . His smiling face as He gave His last darshan in Mumbai was the sole consolation to many a weeping heart and eye gathered there. Mumbais devotees felt a vacuum and Dharmakshetra bore a desolate look. A huge silence hung in the air and the only prayer on all lips was for Swami to come back soon again!”

Bhagawan arrived at the Airport at 0315 Hrs. escorted by the Chief Minister. …And The Divine Chariot lifted off at around 3:55 p.m. bidding farewell to Mumbai City…

Yes, The Lord returned to Prasanthi, but not before leaving “Himself” at Pune and Mumbai, etched in the hearts of thousands upon thousands. Reflecting the upbeat mood during His presence and the vacuum after His departure, an active worker commented: Mumbai has had a drought of His darshan for 9 years and we thought

of making up for all that lost timewe practically made Him live the life of a Mumbaikar. We work sixteen hours on an average but Bhagawan works incessantly. Yes, He works incessantlyand He loves us abundantlyIt was His overpowering love for Mumbai that was seen in action for the last three days and Mumbai literally basked in His glory and so was the Sai Fraternity!!!

Swami’s arrival in Puttaparthi :
“Om Sairam Dearest Sai Family, It was beautiful atmosphere in Parthi since the sun rise. Every one seemed very happy. Swami after successfully completing His 5 day tour to the Pune and Mumbai landed in Parthi at 5:05 pm amidst thousands of eagerly waiting devotees. Puttaparthi which seemed to switch to Tamasic mode in Swami’s absence got into Satvic mode the very moment our Beloved Lord landed in His Parthi airport. The Jet Airways flight carrying His chosen ones landed at Parthi airport. Thousands of devotees lined up on either side of the roads. Many devotees were waiting for Swami since 2pm bearing the scorching sun. When it comes to Swami, nothing matters.

click to enlarge The Return of The Lord

As soon as Swami landed, the lift was ready and Swami drove slowly blessing His devotees and after two bhajans, Arathi was given to Swami. Another attraction was the little Sathya Geetha which was brought to the airport. It was seen screaming and jumping in joy after seeing Swami. Because of her age probably, it seemed bit mischievous, on the way back, it was plucking all the mango toranams which were tied on either side of the road and after Swami’s car left it was the turn of the little children to play with her.

It was great to see Parthi back in action after the arrival of HOLY SON OF THIS HOLY SOIL..
With Pranams at the Lotus feet of our beloved Lord…” Submitted by a Sai devotee to SBOI-GroupJoin Group Sai Baba Of India - "SBOI"

Visits Chief Minister’s Official Residence, “Varsha”

On the second day of Bhagawan’s visit to the city, it was “Varsha”, the official residence of the Chief Minister-designate, Ashok Chavan that evoked greater interest as the news spread about Bhagawan’s visit to the Chief Minister.

Earlier in the morning, at Dharmakshetra, Bhagawan met a group of Bankers and Industrialists of Mumbai, some of whom have attended the “Ethics and World of Finance Conference” held in Prasanthi Nilayam in August.

The morning programme was held in the Jamboori Maidan situated in South Mumbai where in Bhagawan blessed a vast concourse of devotees thronged to have a glimpse of The Lord! Bhagawan’s caravan sped past through the historic Bandra – Worli sealink, a 4.7 km architectural marvel that took 10 long years to commission early this year.

Bhagawan entered the stage around 11.10 a.m. and remained there for about 30-35 minutes when bhajans were held while the capacity crowd was feasting their eyes with Bhagawan’s Darshan. Bhagawan left the venue after receiving Mangala Arathi at 11:45 a.m.
From the Jamboori Maidan Bhagawn proceeded to “Varsha”, the official residence of Chief Minister Ashok Chavan at Malabar Hill, Mumbai followed by that of Jayant Patil, the State Home Minister.
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Darshan - Day 5 Mumbai 1st November, 2009 - Jamboori Maidan Worli, Mumbai
The Chavan’s devotion to Sri Sathya Sai Baba dates back to his father, Late S.B. Chavan, legendary congress leader and former union minister who held various portfolios in the Congress led governments. The Maharashtra Chief Minister paid a visit to Prasanthi Nilayam recently officially inviting Bhagawan to Mumbai.

Quaid Najmi, reporting for IANS writes about the visit in their official column, excerpts of which are given below.

In an unprecedented development, Maharashtra’s chief minister-designate Ashok Chavan hosted his spiritual guru, Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi, here Sunday afternoon.

Chavan had specially invited Sathya Sai Baba to visit Varsha, the official residence of the state chief minister at Malabar Hill in south Mumbai, according to a government official.

Chavan, along with his wife Ameeta and daughters Srijaya and Sujaya, received the Bhagawan on the white steps of Varsha which had been specially decorated with saffron-coloured flowers, flags and buntings for the occasion.

The occasion is strictly a private, family affair… nobody from the government or his staff or the party is invited,” reports IANS.

Later, the Chief Minister hosted a lunch in honour of Sathya Sai Baba in the private dining hall of Varsha, which is usually reserved for VVIPs who visit the place.

The chief minister has never kept his devotion and admiration for Sathya Sai Baba under wraps. He seeks His blessings regularly in times of need and goes to express his gratitude when his wishes are fulfilled.

In fact, shortly after His party’s victory in last month’s assembly elections, Chavan had rushed to thank his spiritual guru.

Though this is Sathya Sai Baba’s first visit to the State chief minister’s residence, he is no stranger to politicians and leaders across the political spectrum.

Among his most prominent admirers and devotees was the former prime minister, the late P.V. Narasimha Rao.

Heavy security arrangements were made for the VVIP guru in the area.

The Malabar Hill, with the Arabian Sea on three sides, is home for VVIPs and celebrities including the chief justice of Bombay High Court and other judges, ministers, top government officials, legislators, foreign diplomats, scientists, leading industrialists and businessmen, head honchos of multinationals and even a few film stars.

He also attended a religious concert by Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam in Goregaon Saturday evening, and interacted with officials of his various charitable interests in Maharashtra and Mumbai.

Sathya Sai Baba arrived in Pune last Wednesday from Puttaparthi by a private chartered aircraft on a three-day visit and inaugurated a temple complex, Sri Sathya Sai

Pandurang Kshetra at Hadshi.

PTI, Press Trust of India, India’s Premier News Agency writes:

Maharashtra Chief Minister designate Ashok Chavan today hosted ‘Satya Saibaba’ at his official residence.

The Baba was on a five-day visit to the state and in Mumbai since yesterday where he had a discourse at the Jambori maidan at Worli in central Mumbai.

Chavan said the Baba had been his spiritual guru since the time of his birth.

Chavan’s father, late S B Chavan who also served as Chief Minister twice, was an ardent devotee of the Baba.

Several Congress-NCP politicians, who are devotees of the Baba, also attended the prayer ceremony held at Chavan’s house Varsha.

The evening programme is scheduled to be held at Brabourne Stadium (CCI), Churchgate, where Sitar exponent Rahul Sharma, son of legendary Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma would perform in His Divine Presence.

True to the saying “God’s Delays are Not God’s Denials”, fulfilling the long cherished desire of the Jadhav’s and the Puneites, Divinity encased in human frame, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba blessed the Peshwa City with abundance, with abundance of His Love, all by His rich presence for three full days! Thousands upon thousands thronged to have a glimpse of The Lord…None would understand and decipher the subtle moves and vibrations of His Divinity, inner significance of which would go far beyond human perceptions for the emancipation of mankind. …And concluding His Holy Visit, He departed to an eagerly awaiting Mumbai City.

And His Divine Caravan sped on through the Pune – Mumbai Highway…subtly blessing thousands on His way…He knows them all…but, not all of them know Him and His Divinity…as He sped on, for some He was God, for some He was a well known social reformer, for some He was a great persona, and for another lot He was another “Baba”…He alone grants the awareness…and that is the greatest blessing upon the humanity…Knowing Him while He is in the midst…

While His Maharashtra sojourn entered its second and final phase, it would be interesting to reflect upon His blessed presence in Pune. Read on a summary of reflections from Ms. Julie Chaudhuri, Editor, Sathya Sai Newsletter, Pune

If the hills around Hadshi make a priceless necklace, then Sri Sathya Sai Pandurang Kshetra is the most exquisite pendant. Such a wondrous sight to hold and behold. A veritable feast for the eyes. It was the most surreal environment decorated gaily for the Lord, His entourage and the ardent devotees gathering there. But let us start at the very beginning.

Activities were on in full swing, in a highly synchronized manner ever since our Lord accepted Mr Shivajirao Jadhav’s invitation to visit Sri Sathya Sai Pandurang Kshetra. The winding road leading up to the Kshetra and then on to the mandir and the divine residence was quickly repaired and tarred. For easy flow of traffic, a one-way system was made for travelling up and for the return journey down towards the city. The mandirs were decorated for the Praan Pratishthan. A huge stage was designed with a wonderful backdrop of Shirdi Sai, Parthi Sai and Lord Panduranga in the centre. On one side of the backdrop was Swami’s saying – I am in you, You are in Me, You and I are one. On the other side, it had words that perhaps every devotee would like to say to Him – Tum shwaas ho, Tum paas ho, Tum vishwas ho…

Barricades and seating arrangements for devotees who would be coming to have darshan of their Lord was made in this most scenic of all places. The hosts left no stone unturned to do their best for our Beloved Lord’s arrival.

There was free food being served in the prasadalay for visitors and workers during these preparations, which went on ever so smoothly. Aesthetically designed fragrant flower arrangements enveloped all the mandirs and of course Bhagawan’s Divine residence.

Day 1, Oct 28, 2009

At last, Wednesday, the 28th of Oct, dawned. It was a timeless moment and Pune’s moment in time, when the Lord’s flying chariot touched down at Pune’s airport a little after 9.30 am. The Maharashtra CM’s flight landed a little prior to Bhagwan’s. He was there not only to receive Bhagwan, but also to seek special blessings as it happened to be his birthday too. Mr Shivraj Patil and Mr Jayantrao Patil were also present along with the AAI director Capt Mahajan and Deputy GM, Airport, Mr Prasad. An ambu high lift had specially been brought in from Ahmedabad airport for the Lord’s deplanement. The lift was decorated with red and yellow carnations and a red carpet covered the floor. Another red carpet was put on the tarmac right up to Bhagawan’s car. A convoy of four cars had been lined up on the tarmac to whisk Bhagawan away through the city, to Mr Jadhav’s residence and then on to SSSPK.

Outside the airport, 11 motorbikes stood ready to lead the convoy, to which five other cars were also added. Balvikas children, traditionally attired, greeted members of the Divine entourage who were served refreshments in the arrival hall.

At SSSPK, 1200 villagers from Hadshi welcomed Bhagwan with a Tukaram Dindi. Through the day, thousands of devotees thronged the Kshetra for a glimpse of Bhagawan. The evening programme began at 5.15 pm with bhajans. Swami arrived at 6 pm. There was an instant stir in the air and all hands were folded in reverence and there was a prayer on every lip.

25 villagers performed Tukaram Abhangs, after which singers Kavita Krishnamurty (Kavita Subramaniam), Nitin Mukesh and Sapna Mukherjee took centrestage. After taking His blessings, they sang beautiful bhajans that left everyone in ecstasy.

Sapna Mukherjee and Nitin Mukesh’s new album – Sai Krishna – was released at the hands of Bhagawan. Mukherjee said, “I’ve been singing His bhajans since I was a child, and I am simply too thrilled that this CD was release by Baba…” Mukesh added, “Today’s evening was most Divine. He smiled at me and praised me. I’m too overwhelmed. First, God came to me in the form of my mother, then my daughter and now Sathya Sai…”

Kavita Krishnamurthy too said emotionally, “I am what I am because of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. He is God, and it must be my past karma that has led me to perform in front of Him…”

Day 2, Oct 29, 2009

The deities at the Lord Siddhivinayak Mandir, Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir and Shirdi Sai Mandir came alive by the Lord’s touch and SSSPK will now be considered a most sacred pilgrimage centre after as the Pran Pratishthan was performed by the Lord himself. Through the ceremony, there was a paraglider who showered rose petals on the Aum-shaped Kshetra.

In the evening, Bhagawan was welcomed for darshan by a traditional Tukaram Dindi. Bhagawan gave darshan from the Vitthal Rukmini Mandir. Mr Shivajirao Jadhav spoke about Swami’s message and showed his gratitude to Swami for accepting the invitation. Then, the All-India President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Mr V Srinivasan, gave a short interesting speech which was followed by Nishikant Barodikar’s Marathi narration of his own experiences with Swami.

And then, the moment that all were eagerly waiting for – Bhagawan’s Divine Discourse , which was translated into English and Marathi. Bhagawan spoke about a life of love – not to criticise anyone and to correct one’s own faults rather than pointing fingers at others. He spoke about the oneness of all beings and also stressed that our life has to be his message.

He then lovingly blessed the gathering and sweetly expressed His happiness.

Day 3, Oct 30, 2009

In the morning, there was a havan that took place near the Vithhal-Rukmini mandir, following which Swami came on to the stage for Divine darshan. Village children sat in front of the stage and sang Prashanthi Bhajans for our Beloved Lord, who smilingly acknowledged their devotion.

In the evening, after bhajans, the Little Champs of Marathi Sa Re Ga Ma gave a scintillating performance in the Divine presence. They began with abhangs immortalised by Tukaram and then went on to sing devotional songs which touched the heart of one and all, including Beloved Bhagwan.

It seemed as though the musical notes had incarnated as these children to serenade the Lord! To Swami’s amusement, each child who performed kept taking Padanamaskar!
Bhagawan blessed them, their parents and siblings.

He was so enchanted by their performance that He asked them for one last song together even though they had finished singing the songs they had rehearsed for!

Though the evening was melodiously blissful, the imminent departure of Bhagawan for Mumbai next morning left a sad feeling deep within.

Creator and His creation; Srishti-Karta and His Srishti; Mountains, lakes, evergreen trees, fragrant flowers, mango orchards, green, green grass, butterflies and dragonflies, the white-blue expanse of the sky, a sunset most wondrous, twinkling stars and soft silky moonlight, and the loving, loving presence of Beloved Bhagwan – could anyone ask for more?

Each and every darshan is ever so valued, but to sit in front of the Lord in the lap of Mother Nature is ever so fulfilling. Dreams do come true…

Day 4, Oct 31, 2009

The next morning, Bhagawan left SSSPK at around 10.45 am. Villagers lined up in a disciplined manner along the entrance and

road leading towards Lonavla. One could see the winding procession – motorbikes, two cars with security guards, Swami’s car, and a string of 20 cars following. Swami blessed the villagers with double Abhayahasta and then the convoy sped on, towards waiting Mumbai…

Thursday, Oct 29, 2009 – Divine Visit to Pune and Mumbai – Divine Discourse

The much awaited Prana Pratishta of the three deities, Lord Ganesha, Lord Vittala Rakumai and Bhagawan Shirdi Sai Baba idols at the Sri Sathya Sai Panduraga Kshetra was done by the Divine Hands on the auspicious 29th October morning attended by vast concourse of devotees.

Earlier in the morning, huge chunk of devotees (some overwhelmed with tears for their prayers were finally answered!) poured into the grounds of the Holy venue. The air was charged with excitement as His

devotees continued to be in high spirits after the beautiful Darshan and soul-stirring musical rendition of the previous evening.

The splendid pink and white Ganesha Mandir at the entrance of the enclosure was delicately decorated with fragrant flowers, floral Swastiks and festive streamers. Soft rose petals were sprinkled all along the pathway to the Mandir.

Evening Darshan – Friday, 30th October, 2009

“The Little Champs” – three girls and two boys gave a heart rending performance in the presence of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. These five “Little Champs” have performed in Marathi TV Channels.

Bhagawan arrived on the stage around 6.15 pm. The group of the above “Famous Five Little Champs” sang three devotional songs each. Bhagawan asked them to sing one more song and they all sang together. It finally added up to a total of 16 songs . Truly, one of the most memorable performance we all had witnessed today..

Each of the children had the opportunity to touch His feet a number of times. Swami gave lots of love and time to them. Some of the singers even requested Swami if He could bless their little brother and sister. Swami lovingly accepted these requests and even pinched some of the children on the cheeks.

“The Little Champs” and the musicians were given mementos by Bhagawan.

The program concluded around 7.50 pm by offering to Aarti to Swami who sat throughout the Aarti.

Bhagawan will be leaving Hadshi for Mumbai tomorrow morning. And we are all waiting for Him to bless the city of Mumbai. …

Bhagawan begins His Maharashtra Sojourn – 28th Oct 2009

The day Puneites have been praying to dawn faster finally arrived. While the mood was upbeat at the picturesque panoramic reflection of God’s natural aesthetic marvel, Hadshi in Pune housing Sri Sathya Sai Panduranga Kshetra, the latest Abode for the God in physical frame, back in Prasanthi the mood was definitely somber as her Beloved Lord was set to depart for a week-long visit to Pune and Mumbai.
28th October morning dawned in

Prasanthi setting herself to bid farewell to her Beloved Bhagawan. Devotees aiming at best possible darshan were dispersed at convenient locations, many in the Mandir, some on the three kilometer stretch leading to the Sri Sathya Sai Airport and some at the Airport vicinity, aiming to catch a glimpse of the flying chariot taking off.Jet Airways owned chartered Jet Airliner Boeing 737-700 carrying Bhagawan along with His “Group of 50” and crew took off from the Sri Sathya Sai Airport at 8:30 a.m. for a seventy minute onboard sojourn with the Divine. inaugurate Sri Sathya Sai Panduranga Kshetra, a triune temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Vittala and Bhagawan Shirdi Sai at Hadshi Village near the picturesque hill station, Lonavala, in Pune.

…And for the Mumbaikars, it has been a decade long wait for Bhagawan to yet again set His Holy Feet in the city. The last Divine Visit was in the year 2000, exactly a decade ago, when Bhagawan set out on a trip coupling His twin visits, to the Financial Capital with that of the National Capital, Delhi.
Pune is being decorated like a blushing bride…

To take a peep into the developments in Pune over the high-profile Divine Visit, we have the first input from Ms. Julie Chowdhuri, reporting on the anticipation and exuberance in the Peshwa City, welcoming the big occasion. She writes, “…Pune is being decorated like a blushing bride to receive her Lord.”

Pune, also referred to as Punya Nagari, is suddenly overcome with new splendour! There’s expectation, there’s excitement, there’s merriment, and a flurry of activities. Each and every devotee is fervently awaiting His arrival; even the soil of this Peshwa city is awaiting the touch of His cherished Lotus Feet.
Day and night have merged into one; the hours are filled with planning, re-planning, coordinating, writing, designing, practising bhajans, decorating, deciding, and praying to Bhagawan to make our dreams come true!

Pune is being decorated like a blushing bride to receive her Lord. A drive to Sri Sathya Sai Panduranga Kshetra, Hadshi Village, where Beloved Bhagawan will stay for the three days of His visit in Pune, makes one feel like the flowers of a myriad colours are blooming more, the leaves on the trees are swaying with happiness, the sun is shining more softly, the birds are singing more sweetly, the breeze is sighing with more joy and love, and everywhere there’s a feeling – ‘Is it really going to happen?!’.

The Jadhavs have been blessed with the right location for hosting our Beloved Lord. Nature, in its pristine glory, surrounds the Kshetra, which, once touched by Bhagawan’s tender Lotus Feet, will then be counted as one among all the other sacred spots around the world. Space, air, fire, water and earth have come together here to make this a wondrously sylvan place. The Kshetra is surrounded by hills and valleys, and also a beautiful crystal clear lake. Creator and His creation…

One loves to have Bhagawan’s Darshan, wherever it may be, but more so here, where Mother Nature reigns supreme…

n the city, huge hoardings, welcoming Beloved Bhagawan, are sprouting up in all areas. People are reading them, awestruck. City newspapers have announced His Divine Arrival, and there are sweet whispers all around. Even Pune airport is eagerly awaiting the flying chariot of the Lord of the Universe…

The excitement is palpable, and everyone is willing October 28 to dawn faster…!

Jadhavs, destined, privileged Divine hosts in the city of Pune had been interviewed by a group of men from Mumbai led by Mr. Chandrasekhar of ChemburDust. The man who bought and dedicated acres of land to build this amazing temple with sprawling lawns, looked so simple merging with the labourers around, writes Chandrasekhar at his first meeting with the man behind the mission. Our cunning Metro-mind emitted signals of disbelief. And demanded his visiting card, for a micro-due diligence, adds Chandra at the simple demeanor of this ‘simpleton’ devotee of the Lord.

After acquiring the huge acres of land in Hadshi in 2002, he sought Bhagawan for guidance to build a temple; Bhagawan was gracious enough; He Himself named it as Panduranga Kshetra while approving the plan of the structures.

By July 2003 the temple was completed with huge sprawling lawn overlooking the expanse of water down below, as though in perennial ‘house arrest’ by Pauna dam. When looked around, it looked like Nature was in her bridal make-up in Hadshi… Sri Sathya Sai Pandurang Kshetra.

In Mar 2004, the Jadhavs invoked Bhagawan to inaugurate the triune temple. But, our Good Lord had one explicit lesson for the onlookers, those who watching over, a lesson of Patience coupled with perseverance…Faith that reciprocates with Divine Grace; Another combo pack that could singularly elevate a human soul to greater heights.

And here is a simpleton who built an amazing temple with crores and waited. Listening to Divine Whispers “Wait, Wait” as Mantra and turning the entire ‘waiting’ itself as ‘Tapasya’. And the Tapasya shall be yielding the fruits, after six long years, precisely in the year 2009…More Precisely on 28th Oct at 11:30 a.m. when Bhagawan will be sanctifying the triune temple installing the deities.
Mumbai Beats…
…And how the financial capital of India is warming up to welcome the Lord? While moving on to capture the delightful moments, where hundreds and thousands of sevadals and devotees are working day-in and day-out, Chandrasekhar writes catching the ambience: “It goes to prove that Yugas may change but when Love incarnates the excitement and celebration cannot be different. For, bliss has no variants…No version updates…

And Baba said “Yes”!

“I am coming to Mumbai on 31st Oct”. On hearing this, the blessed city went into raptures. And the Sai centres got super-active.

For some, it is as though God responded to the oft-repeated slogan of our Ganpathi “Pudcha Varsha Lavkar yaa”. And here He comes “Lavkar” before next Ganapathi.

For some with high ‘Ram memory’, it is like Rama coming to Ayodhya…and for the “Krishna Conscious”, it is like Krishna coming to Madhura.

Everyone exercises his right to own Him. Poor Lord shows up in every heart by default as Krishna did once with all Gopikas. Each one claims to be ‘Sole Proprietor”. And He is in perennial dispute with many claimants. Case adjourned in many Yugas… yet not resolved.

So Baba comes to Mumbai. Yes. It is a cosmic event! One darshan is enough to format our heartdisks and reboot our system and transport us to Divine Domains!!

We wanted to describe the event and our poor repertoire went dry. So we went back to Baba’s own rich narration in “Ram Katha Rasa Vahini” describing the celebration in Ayodhya on Rama’s return, that enables us to visualize our own Mumbai when our good Lord arrives.

“It is as though the City of Mumbai turned Ayodhya preparing for home coming of Lord Rama after long time. Just to see if there are any commonalities between the celebration then and now, we delved deep into Rama Katha Rasa Vahini for some sound bytes on Ayodhya celebrations.

“As the Ocean heaves up in joy at the sight of the autumn moon the vast populace heaved a breath of joy at the sight of Rama “chandra”, the moon. Their excitement reached the sky. The Mothers …in ecstatic delight and forgot themselves, caught in the flood of happiness….

Even the most ascetic among the sages couldn’t restrain his tears at the happy reunion with Rama.”

“The vedic scholars showered their blessings in traditional formulae; Live victoriously for hundreds of years”. The citizens were overjoyed at the sight of the entourage of Rama.
Rama admired the faith and devotion of the people of the city.”

Thanks to Swami’s own narration of how Ayodhya was on His return, we are so happy to use the same description fitting so accurately our situation now in the city of Mumbai….

It goes to prove that Yugas may change but when Love incarnates the excitement and celebration cannot be different. For, bliss has no variants…No version updates…”

Dharmakshetra, the Lotus shaped Divine Abode at Andheri East in Mumbai will be again fortunate to house the Divine in physical frame. It has been a long wait for her, decade long precisely. Hectic preparations are underway round the clock and the sanctum sanctorum of Dharmakshetra has been painted and spruced up for the big occasion.

Maharashtra has been having its constant presence in Prasanthi Nilayam, especially during the last one decade with many a programme get organized and staged at the auspices of Sathya Sai Organisations. Back in Maharashtra it has been activities galore. The stupendous village work (Grama Seva) undertaken by the devotees of Maharashtra in the last couple of years, particularly in the field of educare, sociocare and medicare under the Village Integrated programme has been quite impressive touching many lives. Three more ambulances have been added to the already existing eighteen mobile medicare vans that are already pressed into service. The Mobile Medicare project which was launched in June, 2008 with Bhagawan’s blessings has provided free medical aid to over four lakh patients, free of cost and is creating a tremendous impact in spreading Swami’s message of love, all over the villages in Maharashtra.

Everything Bhagawan does is a treat to watch if one has the inner eyes to observe and the heart to follow; and once one is tuned, there come lessons galore to imbibe and practise. The perfect Master that He is, He never leaves any stone unturned. Every programme during the visit is being planned meticulously and those whom He wishes to confer Grace upon will eventually be drawn by Him, says a commoner commenting on the preparations for the visit.
Two programmes have been chalked out for the public in Mumbai. On 31st October, Bhagawan is expected to grant darshan to the accompaniment of bhajans at NSE Exhibition Grounds in Goregaon (East) around 4 p.m. This ground is situated in North Mumbai and has a capacity of 30000 people with an inbuilt central air-conditioned system. The other programme is scheduled to be held in South Mumbai at Gandhi Maidan, (Jamboree Maidan), B.D.D. Chawls, Worli Naka at 10.00 a.m. on 1st November, 2009.

Bhagawan’s itinerary also includes visits of Indulal Shah’s residence at Khar West, Mumbai and Chief Minister’s Ashok Chavan’s Bungalow at Napean Sea Road, Greater Mumbai. Indulal Shah is the former World Chairman of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations.

Bhagawan’s car will also grace the new Bandra-Worli sea link where balloons will be released by the Balvikas children of Mumbai. South Mumbai being the financial hub many of the top businessmen and corporate leaders are expected to capitalize the occasion seeking Divine Blessings at both the venues in Mumbai…”
